Environmental Refugees Unable to Return Home_respons
In this article, Dhaka is weak at climate change because it just a few
meters above sea level and is regularly hit by cyclones and floods. In my
opinion it is not only case of Dhaka. South Korea also has some problem about environmental damages. Therefore we
have to
prepare about environment damages. There are some reasons. At first, South
Korea locates in peninsula. Kakissis further states that, “Dhaka is also
extremely vulnerable to climate change: It is just a few meters above sea level
and is regularly hit by cyclones and floods.”(2010, para.9). According to this
article people who live near the sea have to be aware of some situations. The
second reason is that many people who live in
Korea suffer from storms and floods every summer. There are about 30 to 40
storms per a year. They concentrate from august to september. Following to Kakissis “More intense storms and floods, salinization damage to crops caused by the encroaching
sea…”(2010, para.7). There are also many
people who underwent damages to crops. And the last is that there are not enough realistic alternatives. Every year many people are troubled with ERs, but compensations and aids are
lacking. They
have to restore their residences and work places. They need enough budget, but
it is difficult to get some cost. If there is no compensation they must be difficult to recover. In conclusion we have
to make some measures about environment damages.
Nice work incorporating the example of Korea into the content of the article. You are right: this is a global problem affecting many of our countries.
